ConsorzioSurrounded by the Lepontine Alps in a unique setting, Lake Maggiore covers an area of 212.5 square kilometres. All along its 140 km of shoreline are small villages, 19th century villas and luxuriant gardens which contribute to the breathtaking beauty of the landscape.
The lake lies between Piedmont to the west and Lombardy to the east, while the northern part is wholly in Switzerland. Foremost among its islands are the marvellous Borromean Islands.
